Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter

An Anglican Use Parish of the Personal Ordinariate of The Chair of St. Peter

+Welcome to St. Luke's webpage!

On January 1, 2012, our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI established The Personal Ordinariate of The Chair of St. Peter in the United States. It is the second such Personal Ordinariate in the world - the first being, The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in the U.K. We are proud and humbled to be part of this historic event!

In his Decree of Erection of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, His Eminence William Cardinal Levada stated, "The supreme law of the Church is the salvation of souls." This "supreme law" - the salvation of our souls - is what led us to the Catholic Church, and it will be the driving force of our life and ministry.

We trust you will find our webpage user friendly and informative. Hopefully, it will provide you with a glimpse into our family. We will do our best to keep you up to date with information and events taking place within the Ordinariate, the Archdiocese of Washington, and at St. Luke's. If you live in the greater Washington DC area, or are just passing through, stop in for a visit. We invite you to come and share in these exciting times.

Almighty and everlasting God, who dost govern all things in heaven and earth, mercifully hear the supplications of thy servants, and grant unto this parish family all things necessary for its spiritual welfare: schools to train up thy people in thy faith and fear, ministers to labor in this portion of thy vineyard, a church restored and maintained in the beauty of holiness. Strengthen and increase the faithful; visit and relieve the sick; turn and soften the wicked; rouse the careless; recover the fallen; restore the penitent; remove all hindrances to the advancement of thy truth; and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within the fold of thy Holy Catholic Church; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth one God, world without end. Amen.
